Its Friday, September 21, 2007. And we've officially entered the "supposed to" time. Its that unique quality of time when things you anticipated happening were suppposed to have happened by now, but they haven't. Like, we were suppose to have our house rented by now, but we haven't. We were supposed to have a departure date picked by now, but we haven't. We were suppose to have our tickets by now, but we don't.
I'm not sure what we're supposed to be learning from all this, but it is stretching us. And if there is one thing I've learned over the last six months recovering from two bulging discs (the kind of thing that wasn't supposed to happen to me), stretching is good for you. It keeps you flexible, increases mobility and strength. So I guess, at the very least, we're getting prepared for our adventure.
Before I go, I've gotta tell you this story. Its another classic Josh story.
Almost every day Linda and I probe Sydney and Joshua to see how they're feeling about heading off on our Panama adventure. Most of the time we hear about how sad they are to be leaving friends, missing a white Christmas, missing skiing, and the like. But the other night Josh and I were laying on his bed, looking up at the ceiling, lights off, trading yawns, and I asked him how he felt about home schooling. We'd just visited a family who has been home schooling their kids for years. And he said, "Well, I think we'll be okay. I'm pretty good in math and can help Sydney with her math, and Sydney is really good at reading, so she can help me with my spelling and reading. We complete each other. I complete her, and she completes me". I fell off the bed laughing. And he hasn't seen the movie. No one makes me laugh like Josh. That boy is like medicine for my soul.
I'll post a few more details and pics over the next couple days. We've begun having a few farewell meals with close friends. I'll post some of the pics. We've got our farewell as Westside King's Church this weekend. Should be interesting. I'll try to get some pics from the weekend as well.
Stay tuned.
